Sheher Baad
Sheher Baad is a pure georgette hand dyed saree created using resist and clamp dyeing. The fabric is folded and compressed before immersion in dye so colour reaches the textile selectively.
Small block markings appear where the cloth is tightly clamped and dye is resisted. The saree is opened, repositioned, and dyed again across multiple dye baths to build layered forms across the body.
The design is not printed or stamped. The pattern develops through pressure and dye absorption within the fibre.
Because the dye penetrates the yarn rather than sitting on the surface, the georgette remains soft and fluid with a light fall. The saree drapes easily and the markings shift subtly when worn.
Each piece develops a different arrangement of blocks. No two sarees are identical.
This is a non printed, hand dyed saree.
Craft
Hand dyed using clamp resist dyeing and shibori across multiple dye immersions. The inner border is formed through controlled resistance during dyeing rather than stitching or printing.
Why it is different
Most patterned sarees are digitally printed.
Here the motif forms by blocking dye from entering compressed areas of the textile. The design exists inside the fabric rather than on the surface.
Colour
Colour
Warm purple body with mustard pallu and purple dyed block markings, inner resist dyed border, and contrast rani pink running border.
